The Old Low Light Heritage Centre on North Shields Fish Quay has joined a network of venues across the borough to offer a warm welcome space to local people over the coming months.
Every Friday, from 10am to 3pm, people can pop into the heritage centre for a free cuppa and a chat.
There is free wifi as well as a trolley with books about the history and heritage of North Shields and its fish quay.
Centre director Guy Moody said: “The rising cost of living is affecting all of us and we are pleased to be part of this scheme in North Tyneside, offering a warm space every Friday.
“In addition to receiving a very warm welcome and a free cuppa, people can take the opportunity to find out a little more about their local area.”
The centre’s involvement has been made possible with a grant from North Tyneside Council and a kind donation from Tynemouth Coffee.
