The Old Low Light Heritage Centre offers many opportunities for pupils to learn the history of North Shields and its Fish Quay.
Visits and projects can be tailored across all key stages depending on the curriculum. The building is fully accessible, has free wi-fi and there is a large outside area.
Teaching staff are encouraged to contact our office to discuss what is on offer for schools, for example:
Art, heritage, maritime and fishing traditions, the river and natural world. Free, self-guided visits are available to all schools if booked in advance.
Visits can be tailored, in discussion with teachers, to suit all key stages. A visit to the centre could last a whole school day and could include a number of different activities (agreed in advance).
There is a small charge, all visits must be booked one month in advance, schools must organise their own transport and bring packed lunches. Workshops available are as follows:
