The Old Low Light Heritage Centre is proud to support The Steps to Employment Project.
Across North Tyneside a number of businesses, charities, including the Old Low Light and colleges work with the council on the Steps to Employment project. Working as a consortium, they design plans with individuals who want to get into employment.
At the heritage centre, we play our part by supporting people through volunteering opportunities into working life. We provide volunteers with training and experience in customer service, for example, by welcoming visitors on our reception desk at the front of house and acting as gallery guides, sharing information with visitors about the story of North Shields and its Fish Quay. We also provide training and experience for volunteers in our busy café, making hot drinks and serving customers. This has helped many of our volunteers to gain jobs.
