Fish Quay and the Artists – talks at Old Low Light

Local art specialist David Hirst will give a talk ‘The Fish Quay and Artists’ on Saturday 12 February at 11am at the Old Low Light Heritage Centre, North Shields Fish Quay. The same talk will be repeated a week later, on Saturday 19 February at 11am. Entrance is £4, Old Low Light members free and tickets can be booked online at https://oldlowlight.co.uk/whats-on/

Using artworks from Tynemouth Fine Art collection, David’s talk will explore the history of the Fish Quay and its people as depicted by well-known artists including Victor Noble Rainbird, John Atkinson, Robert Jobling and James Williamson-Bell.

It will show how the development of North Shields is intertwined with the long history of the fishing industry on the Tyne and how the Fish Quay is still at the heart of the riverside.

David is a long-standing volunteer at the Old Low Light.
