Talk: The Fish Quay and the Artists

The development of North Shields is intertwined with the long history of the fishing industry on the Tyne, and The Fish Quay is still at the heart of the riverside community. This illustrated talk by David Hirst looks at the development of the Fish Quay as shown in the paintings of artists from the 1800s to the present day. Using artworks from the Tynemouth Fine Art collection, David will explore the history of the Fish Quay and its people as depicted by artists, including Victor Noble Rainbird, John Atkinson, Robert Jobling, James Williamson-Bell and other local artists.
