Talk and poetry readings: Life and nature by the river and coast By Dan Turner

We are very pleased to welcome back Dan Turner, who has a life-long association with the River Tyne and North Shields Fish Quay, a keen interest in natural history and is a well-known and respected ornithologist.

Dan has published five books, each featuring the River Tyne and the North East coastline and some including poetry.

The event will focus on life and nature by the river and coast and will include readings from his diaries and some of his poetry. It will also include reference to some of the Folk of the Fish Quay.

A supporter of the Old Low Light, he has given talks previously and taken part in panel discussions about local wildlife. He has also provided information for display boards at the heritage centre about the harmful impact of plastic and other litter on sealife.

He is a respected ornithologist, an interest which developed from an early age and which has led to well over 30 years of surveying the Tyne kittiwakes, resulting in involvement with projects into beached birds, the northern fulmar and gulls of North East England.
