Spring floral bouquet stitching workshop

Spring floral bouquet stitching workshop, Friday 1 March 2024 10.30 to 1.30pm £15pp

We’re delighted to welcome back local artist, teacher and maker of hand-crafted items, Gaynor Devaney to the Old Low Light Heritage Centre for a stitching workshop.

This will take place on Friday 1 March from 10.30am to 1.30pm. Places, at £15pp (+small online booking fee) can be booked by clicking on the button above. The workshop is suitable for both new and experienced stitchers.

Participants will stitch ‘spring floral bouquets’ that can be used for decorative purposes. They will have the opportunity to experiment with several different embroidery stitches such as daisy chain, stem and blanket stitches and French knots, as well as combining collage elements including Suffolk puffs, buttons and beads.

Gaynor will provide basic kits. While needles and scissors will be provided, participants may also bring their own.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, and participants can also buy hot drinks and toasties, scones or cake in the Old Low Light café which opens at 10am.

Gaynor has worked in the community for many years as an artist and teacher, including for organisations such as the Tyne and Wear Museums Service, the National Trust as well as hospitals and schools.

She is also a founder member of SEW NE29, a community group for people who like to stitch, which meets on the second Saturday of the month at Christ Church Parish Hall.
