Making trays and platters with willow

Expert willow weaver, Lorraine Griffiths, is returning to the Old Low Light Heritage Centre to demonstrate how to make ‘tension trays’ and ‘Catalan platters’.

This will take place on Friday 10 May 2024 from 10.30am to 2.30pm (including a break for lunch). Places at £30pp + small booking fee can be booked by clicking the button above.

Materials and tools will be provided, and participants should be able to make both a tray and a platter each during the session. The session is suitable for both new and experienced willow weavers.

Lorraine, secretary of the Northumbrian Basketry Group and a very experienced willow weaver, led successful workshops at the heritage centre last year when participants made a variety of willow Christmas decorations and bird feeders.

The café is open from 10am to 3pm and offers hot and cold drinks, toasties, paninis, scones, cakes and other snacks.
