The singers are led by Harry Gallagher, a widely published poet whose work will in equal parts make you smile and feel things in places you’d forgotten existed – one of which may be Middlesbrough.

The music event is part of the North of Tyne Combined Authority and North Tyneside Council’s ‘The Mouth of the Tyne Collective’ and is one of several being held on the top floor at the Old Low Light Heritage Centre over the winter.

Centre director, Guy Moody said: “We are so pleased to welcome the Mariners and Marras to the heritage centre for what sounds like an afternoon of great fun with some traditional North East songs and singalongs. Since the beginning of the year, we have been delivering a musical programme which is proving to be very popular and which we hope offers something for all, ranging from classic, to pop and sea shanties.”
