We are very grateful to Innocent Bystanders for their three wonderful performances of Standing on the Shoulders

We can only imagine the huge amount of time invested by the 21-strong group in bringing together this amazing performance which covered so many aspects of the history and heritage of North Shields and how these impacted on women.

The beautiful traditional quilt, incorporating important moments and times over eight centuries, which hung proudly during each of the performances will soon be on display in our heritage gallery as part of our exhibition, ‘North Shields, 800 years in the making’.

While the Innocent Bystanders have made a great contribution to promoting the history of our town with Standing on the Shoulders, they have also very generously boosted the finances at the Old Low Light by donating the proceeds from ticket sales to the heritage centre.

Earlier this year we celebrated the 10th anniversary of our official opening and for every one of those ten years, Gilly Love and the various groups she leads, have supported us with musical events, always donating any money raised. Their support is very much appreciated and we send them all our sincere thanks.
