Dear Stakeholder,
We are replacing Tanners Bank railway bridge, between the Fish Quay and Tynemouth Road, in a major project by Nexus and North Tyneside Council, which will mean some local disruption while the work is completed.
I am writing to invite you to a Tanners Bank information drop-in session being held in The Old Low Light, Clifford’s Fort, NE30 1JE on Thursday 26 May 2022 from 4pm until 7pm.
The bridge, which serves one of the Metro network’s busiest routes between Newcastle and North Tyneside, will be completely replaced this summer in a £3m project – creating more space for better bus links and road freight to North Shields Fish Quay.
The bridge replacement work will take place during a 14-day major line closure, between 16 – 29 July. The Metro line will be closed from St James to Tynemouth, in both directions, during this time and some road diversions will also be in place.
Find out more about the project, and how it might affect you, at the drop-in session. There will be representatives there from Nexus, the works contractor Taziker and North Tyneside Council to answer any questions you have.
If you need any further information, please don’t hesitate to contact our Stakeholder Relations Officer, Rebecca Ditchburn at rebecca.ditchburn@nexus.org.uk
Yours faithfully
Cathy Massarella
Major Projects Director, Nexus
