Award-Winning Photographer Visits ‘Harvest From the Deep’ Exhibition at the Old Low Light

Pete, along with the staff, volunteers and trustees of the Old Low Light, was delighted to welcome internationally renowned Finnish photographer Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen (MBE, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society 2024) to Pete’s exhibition Harvest From The Deep yesterday.

A founding member of the Amber collective, Sirkka-Liisa’s iconic documentary work is held in major collections including Tate, the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. Her celebrated Byker project remains a powerful testament to her years embedded in the Newcastle community she so vividly documented.

Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen as clearly moved by the personal insights and history shared throughout the visit and thanked Pete for the tour of the exhibition, describing it as ‘inspiring’.

Harvest From The Deep was originally due to close at the end of August, but due to popular demand we’ve extended the exhibition until 17 October. So if you didn’t catch it over the summer, there’s still time to come and explore it.

Please note that the exhibition is in a multi-use space, so access may be limited at times. We recommend checking in advance on the day of your visit. Generally, the best access times are Tuesdays from 11am to 3pm, and Fridays and Saturdays.
