Warm Space Activities At The Old Low Light March 2024

The Old Low Light Heritage Centre on North Shields Fish Quay is once again offering a ‘warm space’ on Fridays over the winter.

8 March / Women of North Shields  / 1pm-2pm

Celebrating International Women’s Day Old Low Light trustee and volunteer, Nina Brown, will be available to talk about the important role of women on North Shields Fish Quay. This will include highlights from our exhibition ‘That’s Women’s Work’ which took place in the heritage gallery during 2021 featuring women, past and present, who worked in fishing and maritime industries. Some display boards from the exhibition and artefacts will be available.

15 March / Crafts and Coffee / 1pm-2pm

Old Low Light volunteers, Margaret Sturmey and Sue Myers, will lead a craft session on the top floor in the centre (materials will be provided). This follows on from their successful knitting and crochet sessions over the summer for the ‘sea of poppies’ project, resulting in over 3,000 poppies which were used in a display outside the centre in the lead up to Remembrance Sunday.

29 March / Guided Bird Walk / 1pm-2pm

A free hour-long bird watching walk, led by Old Low Light volunteer, Dan Turner, starting outside the centre on Clifford’s Fort on Friday 29 March at 1pm.
