Cracking family activities to get the half term ‘Arty’ started

Looking for some brilliant things to do with your small fry this February half-term?  We’ve got another week fun activities for all ages that won’t leave you out at sea!

goerge and cherubs‘Discover In A Day’ Holiday Club: – 22 February

Come along and meet our artists and fishermen; some even do both!.  Discover all about artists and how they create their art.  Explore those special parts of the Fish Quay where only the fishermen are allowed to go, then come back to the Old Low Light and make your very own ‘memory net’ to either take home, or leave to become part of our summer exhibition.

fish and kids pictureMeet new friends, have great fun and get a recognised Arts Award too.  The cost of the day is £20 per child or two for £35.  All materials and snacks are included, but a packed lunch will be needed.   The day lasts from 10:00 – 3:00  and is suitable for 5 – 11 year olds.

kiddie yogaTurn your little warriors into karma kids: 21 February

Back by popular demand is our Kiddies Yoga.  Join Liz and Louise Watson from 10:00-10.45 are they turn your little warriors into karma kids.  After the Yoga, why not stay for coffee and have a look around our new exhibitions.  Cost is £5 per adult and child.  £2.50 for additional children.  Contact Liz on liz@lizyoga.co.uk to book a place.

Something to ruffle their feathers: 22 -23 February

150323-IMG_8357-OLL-Ringed-Plover-v8-72-dpi-for-WebCome along and talk to North of England Beached Bird Group volunteer co-ordinator and Old Low Light friend Dan Turner to discover lots about our coastal birds and wildlife.  Dan will be bringing some of his collection to the Old Low Light for you to see up close and will be in our Heritage Gallery from 2:00-4:00 on 22nd and from 10:00-3:00 on the 23rd.

Go absolutely potty about archaeology: 24 February

IMG_0133 (2)Drop in for a cracking hands-on session helping Old Low Light archaeologists John and Jenny clean and identify some of the Carr’s Pottery they found when they were excavating Clifford’s Fort.  Become an archaeologists’s apprentice and discover how to clean, identify and piece together the past.   Have a look at our new Carr’s Pottery display in our Heritage Gallery.  Drop in session 11:00-3:00 normal admission charges apply.  £2 adults under 16’s free.
