Get on board and light up your curriculum
A visit to the Old Low Light is a great way to bring history to life and inspire creativity.
We are currently offering two cross curricular projects from the summer term.
North Shields the Town that Almost Never Was
What was life like in North Shields from early medieval times? Students can discover how life has changed over nearly 1000 years and what may have stayed the same. They can investigate using a range of resources such as replica artefacts, maps costumes and life interpretation.
An interactive workshop in our new gallery will develop pupils’ understanding of sailors’ needs for light in order to guide them safely home. During the session children will investigate a range of artefacts that will enable them to explore light sources, shadows, colours and lenses.
They can be tailored to a range of age groups. Supporting resources will be available for preparation and follow up.
Meeting your Needs
We are also available for self-led visits exploring our interactive North Shields Gallery.
Our community space is ideal as a base for visits to the Fish Quay or Mouth of the Tyne area.
We have a network of local experts who can offer support to help you build your own project.
