He was an artist of unquestioned ability, a major prize winner at The Royal Academy with a wonderful career ahead of him. Instead of completing his scholarship and seeking the safety of a studio he signed on as a private soldier, took his sketch book to no man’s land and ended up almost buried alive.

On Saturday 14 October the Old Low Light Heritage Centre will host a talk beginning at 11.00am on the North Shields artist Victor Noble Rainbird. Presented by local Rainbird enthusiast Dave Young the talk will look at his life from it’s beginning in North Shields in 1887 to its sad conclusion 48 years later.
