The emails of their day…..

In 1869 postcards were invented as a cheaper alternative to the penny post as they cost only 1/2d to send.  Today the postcard has been overtaken by the selfie and Instagram.

Come along and relive the history of North Shields and Tynemouth as depicted on Andrew Clark’s collection of vintage postcards.  Local historian and author Andrew’s entertaining talk will be looking at North Shields’ and Tynemouth’s history through his selection of the towns’ postcards.

Normal admission charges apply; £2 for adults under 16’s and Network members free
