Two guided walks to banish those January blues this weekend in the crisp cold winter sunshine.
Join Old Low Light volunteers Martin Kenny and Dan Turner this weekend for two refreshing walks along the Fish Quay and Coastal Path.
Saturday 28 January.
Meet at the Old Low Light 10.30 on Saturday to meet Tynemouth retired coxswain Martin Kenny for his popular ‘Shipwrecks and Survivors’ guided walk. Discover stories of heroic rescues and historic RNLI lifeboat sites. The walk lasts around an hour and a half, costs £4.50 which included a donation to Tynemouth RNLI. Upon returning to the Old Low Light, come along to the launch of our latest exhibition ‘Sail Not Drift’ and enjoy some live music too.
Sunday 29 January.
A must for all wildlife lovers. This guided walk led by local author and experienced ornithologist Dan Turner knows the locality very well, so Dan will point out which birds are on and near the river. At this time of year there is a huge variety of visiting winter birds around the Mouth of the Tyne and Dan will be pleased to identify these and point them out to you. The cost of the guided walk is £4.50 which includes entry into the Old Low Light, and includes a donation to North East England Beached Bird Survey Group.
Please meet at Old Low Light at 10:00 on Sunday 29 January and wrap up warmly.
